This site is very important <br class="">to the network since it routes up to 140Mbit of internet to the rest of <br class="">the network. Some of you may recall we also replaced the UPS there this <br class="">summer to help us deal with the bad power. However it looks like the <br class="">built-in batteries aren't large enough to sustain us through the longer <br class="">outages. I'd like to expand the site's runtime by a factor of 17 by <br class="">adding an external battery bank. I'd also like to use AGM batteries so <br class="">that they last longer and don't require any maintenance. The cost of <br class="">this will be $500 for the batteries, and then some small amount for <br class="">wires + connectors (< $100), which can be purchased under the <br class="">discretionary spending bylaw.<br class=""><br class="">So, this spending request is for the $500 battery cost only.<br class=""><br class="">I'd like to have this funded from project-specific donations and not <br class="">drain our existing funds.
