[HamWAN PSDR] EOCs on HamWAN

Paul,

I looked over the Hamshack Hotline website and after I registered I was able to get a list of supported phones that they use.

The phone system they use is a SIP system, similar to ours. The phones >should< be compatible. That said, many of us have been using the SNOM phones instead of the Cisco phones. In many phones it is possible to configure multiple phone systems – for example it may be possible to configure your Cisco phones to use both the Hamshack Hotline system AND HamWAN. That said, it could create confusion for people using them as the phone and/or extension numbers may overlap, or programming for both systems may create issues. Without myself or one of the other admins getting a HH compatible phone, programming, and testing it, there is no real way to know.

In short, it appears possible, but not without wrinkles. To keep things simple, I would probably keep separate phones. Not necessarily the most optimal for crowded spaces, but you also don’t want IT snafus taking out access to both phone systems.

I’ll do some more looking when I have time and may set one up in the shack.

Rob

Our ARES group in Centralia is also hoping to get onto HamWan soon. Regarding your question about EOCs, we are using HamShack Hotline phones and do have one in our EOC, and in the ECC. Are these two phone systems compatible? We are utilizing the HH system throughout our membership as well as installing it in both our comm vans.

Kittitas County is interested, once HamWan can get over the mountain we want to commit, and while we don't have a budget, if need be I will fund it as I think it is a very necessary asset to our ability to respond in a major event.

All--
Is there a list anywhere of EOCs that are either connected, or have plans to connect to the network? If not, can EOC folks respond back and I will start a list?
